Downtown Project Update #40

Today the traffic has opened to two-way in Downtown Franklin. Thank you to everyone for their patience and working to provide a safe flow of traffic in downtown.

However, there is still work to be done. The project will continue through the next couple months with odds and ends to complete, including installation of benches, bike racks, trash barrels, decorations, banners, American flags, finishing the crosswalks, planters, trees and much more.

Please contact the Town Administrator's Office at 520-4949 with any questions. We will continue to keep the public informed through our website, Twitter and Facebook

In case you missed it, here's a virtual drive through Downtown Franklin on the first day of the 2-way traffic pattern:

Traffic Changes Tuesday, Downtown Sign, Water Plantings During Drought

Tomorrow's the Day!
A quick reminder that 2-way traffic pattern changes begin Tuesday, July 26. Signs, police details and traffic signals will guide drivers. Brush up on the details by downloading the downtown traffic flow map and the Town Administrator's letter.

In the meantime, there is still work to be done. Crosswalks will be completed over the next two weeks, and the Downtown Franklin sign will be placed on the island at the corner of Main and West Central streets.

Keeping Downtown Franklin Beautiful
The Beautification team, headed by Eileen Mason, has done a tremendous job watering the flowers on the bridge downtown during this drought. Thank you to all the volunteers for keeping our downtown looking good!

Businesses: remember to water your flower barrels - the plants are thirsty!  Also, please send in your checks if you haven't done so already.

Thank You Beautification Sponsors

We'd like to take a moment to thank our wonderful Beautification sponsors for making these colorful flower displays downtown possible this year!
These awesome signs on the bridge downtown were created by Signs by Cam.

On May 21 volunteers helped the Franklin Downtown Partnership and the Franklin Garden Club plant flowers and greenery downtown and on the Town Common. Now, in these hot and dry dog days of Summer 2016, the plantings still look great!

Once the road project is complete downtown, we can look forward to even more colorful blooms.

Gold Sponsor D.G. Ranieri Real Estate, Silver Sponsor Middlesex Savings Bank, and Bronze Sponsors Auerr, Zajac & Associates, LLP, and Tom Fricker Heating & A/C allow the FDP and Garden Club to plan for, purchase and maintain these displays along with the winter decorations. Thank you!

Paving Main Street between Bridge and Emmons Street will be Thursday during the day. One lane will remain open for traffic.

They will continue to work on crosswalks over the next three weeks. They plan to paint the lines on the streets next week.

The plan is still to transition to two way traffic on July 20th.

There are several areas that still need repairs and changes that they will continue to work on over the summer.
